Challenges

The website was outdated and no longer lived up to the quality and presentation standards appropriate for a company honoring this historic site and its heroes. Additionally, it was challenging for people to find the right tour for their visit. Advertising efforts were difficult to scale due to inadequate measurement.

Solutions

Blend designed and built a new website, and concepted and created the Pearl Harbor Tour Finder to help simplify the tour selection process. We also improved measurement so that digital advertising could be confidently scaled to sell more tours.

Website design & development

The new site has clear organization and a clean, modern design. A tour comparison chart is one tool to assist visitors in selecting the right tour based on which sites they want to visit.

Tour finder concepting & development

We worked with the leadership at PearlHarbor.org to understand the key questions that people need to answer in order to identify their top tours. Armed with those questions and the correct list of tours for every permutation, we developed a 2-question ‘wizard’—complete with unobtrusive but informative details—so that a visitor can easily narrow the list of tours in seconds. The result has been an improvement in the conversion rate, as people are more confident that they’ve found the right tour.
